Following New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s call to reduce fares on the Long Island Rail Road during the upcoming “summer of hell”, the MTA has followed through on his request.
LIRR riders who will be travelling to Hunterspoint Avenue, Atlantic Terminal, Long Island City, Nostrand Avenue, or East New York stations will be receiving an average fare reduction of about 25%. All other LIRR trains and terminals will not receiving any changes in ticket prices.
As previously announced by the MTA, LIRR customers are eligible to receive a free transfer to the subway during the morning rush hour, but not during the evening.
